A must see!

A few weeks ago Colby, Eden and I headed down to Forest Park.  Forest Park is right in the heart of the city and it is about 500 acres.  They say it gets about 12 million visitors a year.  They have all different kinds of monuments, historic buildings, wildlife, waterways and landscapes.  Not to mention they have an outdoor amphitheater (The Muny) for musicals, outdoor skating rink, the zoo and larger grassy areas to run and play on and there are always weddings and receptions going on too.  It is a great place and a definite place to see if you come to St Louis.

That particular night there was a lot going on in the area for free!!! Can't beat that!  First we headed to the zoo.  The admission is always free and every friday night they have "Jungle Boogie."  It is a summer concert series they do in the zoo.  Tons of people come and all the kids are up and dancing.  The night we went they were doing some old Beatles songs and it was fun.  But it was starting to sprinkle so they had to take a break and see if the rain would let up.

After the concert we started to talk over to The Shakespeare Festival.  Through out the summer they do the plays of Shakespeare on the green.  That night they were doing "Taming of the Shrew."  We should up just in time for "Shrew in a Few."  It was the 20 minute version of the play which was just long enough to keep Eden's interests.

After the play we walked over to the Art museum.

I cannot tell you how beautiful the landscaping was around the museum.  We didn't actually go inside because it was closed but we greatly enjoyed the scenery.

I love this bridge!!!

There is also a restaurant there called the Boathouse  where you can ride pedal boats across the lake!  Colby and I added that to our list of things to do before we leave!

They had weeping willows in the lake and the scene totally reminded us of "Kiss the Girl" from the Little Mermaid.

The night was incredibly hot and humid but we enjoyed a little family stroll around Forest Park.

The Shakespeare Festival of St. Louis is probably my favorite annual event in St. Louis. AND, when you do make it to the Boathouse, they actually have really good food, too (not just boats). ;-)
